This is, obviously, the kind of Drag News that I dislike to report. Unfortunately, last Sunday night at Knoxville's Rainbow Club's AIDS benefit, the unimaginable happened. According to my sources at the club, first-time Drag Entertainer - Lady Olivia (also known as "Lady-O") - is said to have suffered a heart attack, DURING her performance, and tragically passed away at the scene. Emergency personnel responded, but were unable to revive the performer.
A photo (which I am attempting to aquire) shows Lady Olivia was quite stunning before her very FIRST Drag Show, something she had eagerly anticipated. Sadly, this brought the AIDS benefit to a screeching halt, although quite understandably so.
Queens of Drag offers our sincere condolances to those close to Lady Olivia, as well as Knoxville's Rainbow Club, for this horrid and tragic event.
Again, I'm trying to obtain a photo of Lady Olivia, prior to her first (and, sadly, last) performance, to pay tribute to one of OUR community who passed on - Doing what SHE really wanted to do.
I understand funeral services are slated for Thursday night.
